Pinus strobus


The White pine is also commonly known as the eastern white pine, northern white pine, Weymouth pine and soft pine.

It is native to North America and Canada.

With soft, thin green needles, and a narrow cylindrical cone - it makes a good choice as an ornamental in a garden.

Height: mature 20 - 50 meters

Ideal Growth Conditions: Full/ partial sun, moist well-drained, slightly acidic soil, prefers cooler climates.

Attributes: Conical, green-grey needles, deep brown bark, narrow cylindrical brown cones.

Tending and care

Easy growing, preferring cooler Australian climates.

Plant in winter to minimise transplant stress.

Uses: Ornamental in gardens, windbreaks and farm tree areas, timber and forestry, and Christmas trees.
